Excellent, insightful comment, thank you for this. I hope people who read the article scroll down and see this too.
I particularly agree with the idea that being a “healer” can attract narcissists. I personally would avoid anyone who calls themselves a “Shaman” who isn’t from that background. The idea of ‘being a shaman’ and being ‘seen as a shaman’ would be very appealing to narcissists.
I love the Om-Mij in the Netherlands. No Shamans, just very humble, supportive guides who do nothing but support and provide the medicine. No emphasis on themselves, it’s beautiful.
I’ve seen pretty damming evidence of abuse at some other places, and choosing a place is so incredibly important. Seems you’ve seen plenty more. I love the fact that psychedelic healing is more available than ever, but this stuff really needs to be out there.
