How does this work in the US Jill? In the U.K. the mental health care part of the free system is very inadequate, and normal medical doctors prescribe antidepressants after a short consultation, and then people go back if they don’t work and perhaps get a different brand. It’s the quickest way for an attempt at a fix, I guess. The problem is many can’t afford therapy, the free service has long waiting lists, and the culture here is that people don’t know very much about it and often have to be talked into going. I know the therapy culture in the states is very different and people are much more likely to go, but how do the pills work? Are they also given out by medical doctors with very little information?
