I think I’m anticipating a bumpy ride but smoother than you are for two reasons, despite the completely idiotic, incompetent and responsibility-shirking lot running the show.

Firstly, it’s that over the last few hundred years things have been getting generally better and better and even a small dip would still leave things better than they were not so long ago. I dip I’m sure, but hopefully not that bad.

My second reason, more worryingly, is that these last 40 years of having it good is exactly how long I’ve been on the planet – so I don’t know anything else. Which isn’t a logical reason for thinking it’ll all be ok, but is likely guiding things in my brain. My parents, who have obviously been around a while longer, will absolutely have piles of tinned food at the ready I’m sure.
