There’s a musician here in the U.K. who lost a friend, also a big player on the english folk music scene. She wrote him a message, put it in a glass bottle and threw it into the sea.
Because of the people in question, she was identifiable, and the person who found the bottle sent her a message with a hard telling off about littering the sea!
She wrote a lovely little song about it all. It’s called Sea Glass, she’s called Miranda, you might find it online.
